Twenty-third Day of Advent, 2013
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:1-4 NIV)
If the adage, united we stand divided we fall, applies to any group of people, it applies to Christians. We are spiritually one body in Christ. When we separate ourselves from the body, we open ourselves up for attack from the enemy. We need one another. It’s that simple.
- Encouraging other Christians helps us stand firm on the teachings of the Bible
- Comforting those around us strengthens our faith
- Showing tenderness and compassion enables us to receive the same when we are in need
We can only give what we have received. But it’s in the giving that we find unity in Christ.
Enjoy the sounds of Christmas, as you prepare for Jesus’ Second Advent.
See you in a twinkling,
