Years ago (pre-cordless and cell phones days), a car broke down in front of my house. The driver knocked on the door, seeking assistance. I was clueless as to how to change a flat tire and didn’t like opening the door to a stranger to use my phone. So I did the only thing in my power to do—I assured him, through the closed storm door, that I’d call the mechanic at the other end of town.
