Sky on My Quotes of Encouragement

O it is pleasant, with a heart at ease,
Just after sunset, or by moonlight skies,
To make the shifting clouds be what you please.
~Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Who has not looked at the sky in admiration and wonderment of its vastness and beauty?

The sky mesmerizes me. On road trips, I have coaxed my husband Gene to pull off the road to enjoy a rainbow or the sunset. Recently on a cruise, I persuaded him to get up at 5:00 o’clock every morning just to watch the sun rise over the ocean. There is no other spectacle on earth worthy of that honor in my opinion. Don’t misunderstand, Gene enjoyed it as much as I did. Apparently, a few others on the ship did too. Their faces became familiar over the course of our vacation. And we wondered why more people hadn’t joined us for the greatest show on the earth.

Every day, it’s a marvel to behold. Every day, it is new and different and will never be repeated.

Perhaps that’s the reason the sunrise brings new hope. Even when clouds draw a closed curtain that blocks our view, the sunrise assures us of its presence and restores our souls with beams of light shimmering through the clouds.

Sunrise on a Cloudy Day

The Psalmist, David, penned, “The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalms 19:1a). With David, we praise the Creator of the sky. He graciously reassures us of His love through bright, colorful sunrises. He reminds us of His presence even on stormy days. He warms us in the Son light of His love and refreshes us with the reign of the Holy Spirit.

The sky is a continuous memo from God concerning His grace and mercy toward and His care of His greatest creation—you and me.

See you in a twinkling,
